Governance Top 100 Winner 2021

We are proud to announce the Winner and Outstanding Achievers for Governance Top 100 for 2021

Russell Redsell, the Executive General Manager - Legal, Compliance & Regulatory Affairs, Youi Insurance, has been named the 2021 winner of Governance Top 100 which was launched by 3YS Owls Governance Consultants in 2020.

Mr Redselll was chosen from an outstanding league of corporate governance professionals across a range of ASX-listed entities, not-for-profit groups, government organisations, private and unlisted public companies. Entrants represented large and small entities from various industry sectors including agriculture, aviation, airports, banking and financial services, local city councils, Government, engineering and mining, healthcare and pharmaceutical, real estate, retail, superannuation, insurance, surf lifesaving, food and beverage, sport, professional services, property, technology, fintech, and manufacturing (even of award winning high speed electrical vehicle chargers).

As part of his submission to Governance Top 100 Mr Redsell said: “I am very proud of Youi’s governance journey. Winning is recognition that smaller organisations can still do amazing things around governance and in a nimble and meaningful way. I believe that Youi is a great case study of doing just that.

Ainslie Cunningham, co-founder and director of 3YS Owls, said the judging panel was impressed by the high standard of the submissions from the nominees who participated in Governance Top 100 and the quality of their governance initiatives despite the additional challenges of a pandemic. We appreciate that governance professionals are humble and can find it challenging to promote themselves, however, they should be proud of the contribution they have made and will continue to make to governance within their organisations.

The Judging Panel were unanimous in their praise for the calibre of the nominees in this year’s Governance Top 100. Governance professionals face increasingly complex dynamics with the continuing rise and expansion of ‘ESG’ issues. The Governance Top 100 highlights the skills, increased responsibilities and influence governance professionals are bringing to their organisations. The outstanding submissions were those that best demonstrated their impact beyond ‘business as usual’, driving better governance outcomes, being on top of new developments and showing real thought leadership and innovation. The Governance Top 100 continues to shine the spotlight on the best of our governance professionals and the key role the play, whether in corporate, not-for-profit or government roles.

In summarising some of the attributes that stood out amongst these Outstanding Achievers for Governance Top 100 -2021 include: demonstration of diversity and inclusion to form part of broader ESG and sustainability; utilisation of technology to streamline governance and record keeping, a passion for the work they are doing; delivering exceptional outcomes (often under-resourced) during unprecedented times; evidence of board/organisation/peer respect and contribution to culture (both internally and externally), engaging with all stakeholders in shared and sustained value creation; and the maturity of governance and risk relative to the stage of the company’s life cycle. Congratulations everyone and thank you again for your commitment to governance.
